- Cowells
British maker of watchmaker's and modelmaker's lathes, milling machines and wheel and pinion cutters. The
model 90ME lathe has sufficient attachments to allow a complete
clock movement to be built including gearcutting.
- Myford
British maker of lathes. The ML7 lathe is the favorite of both
England's John Wilding and the U.S.' Bill Smith. Myfords are
well-known for having a complete line of attachments suitable
for modelmaking and clockmaking.
- Sherline
U.S. maker of small precision lathes, mills and attachments. The
line of attachments is not as great as the British lathes but
Bill Smith has developed plans for using the lathes for
clockmaking.
